Your options

Which document do you need?

It depends on your citizenship, how you're travelling and how long you'll stay. Choosing wrong costs time — and can leave a refusal on your record.

Visitor visa (TRV)

For nationals who need a visa. It can be single- or multiple-entry and valid for up to 10 years or until your passport or biometrics expire — the officer decides.

eTA

For visa-exempt travellers arriving by air — a quick online authorization linked to your passport.

Super Visa

For parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents — long stays, multiple entries.

Visitor record

Already here and want to stay longer? Apply to extend before your status expires.

Business visitors

Meetings, conferences and short business trips that don't count as work in Canada.

Refused before?

We address the refusal reasons directly in a new, stronger application.

The Super Visa

Bring parents and grandparents for longer.

The Super Visa allows stays of up to 5 years per entry, with multiple entries for up to 10 years. It asks more of the family in Canada than a regular visitor visa — so the application has to be exact.

  • ✓ Your child or grandchild's income must meet the minimum (LICO-based) in either of the two tax years before you apply.
  • ✓ If they earn at least 75% of the minimum, the parent or grandparent's own income can make up the rest.
  • ✓ Medical insurance of at least $100,000 from a Canadian insurer or an authorized foreign insurer, valid for at least one year from each entry.
  • ✓ A signed letter of invitation and an immigration medical exam.

The Super Visa income rule was updated on March 31, 2026. We apply the rules in force when you file.

Be prepared

What officers look for.

Documents you'll typically need

  • Valid passport and travel history
  • Purpose of the visit and a letter of invitation, where relevant
  • Proof of funds for the trip
  • Proof of ties — employment, property, family at home
  • For a Super Visa: sponsor income proof, insurance and a medical exam

Your exact checklist depends on your country and your situation.

Common reasons visitor visas are refused

  • Not enough evidence of ties to your home country
  • An unclear or unconvincing purpose of visit
  • Funds that are insufficient or unexplained
  • Limited travel history
  • Inconsistent information across applications

We address each of these before you file.

Refused a visitor visa before?

A new application that repeats the old one usually gets the same answer. We find out why it was refused and fix it.

Questions

Visitor & Super Visa FAQs.

Not sure which document fits your family? We'll tell you.

Ask a consultant
How long can I stay as a visitor?

Usually up to six months per entry. The officer at the border decides, and can allow a shorter or longer stay.

Can I extend my stay?

Often, yes — apply for a visitor record before your current status expires. We can prepare it for you.

Super Visa or a regular visitor visa?

A regular visa usually allows stays of up to six months. A Super Visa allows up to five years per entry, but needs proof of the sponsor's income and private medical insurance.

Can a visitor apply for a work or study permit from inside Canada?

Generally not. The temporary policy that allowed visitors to apply for work permits from inside Canada ended on August 28, 2024. There are limited exceptions — we'll advise on your situation.

I was refused before. Should I just apply again?

Not without changing what caused the refusal. We review the reasons first and build an application that answers them.
