Alberta Advantage Immigration Program · 2026

Already in Alberta? Your employer-supported path to PR.

Alberta ranks you on its own system, not your Express Entry score. What it needs is an established Alberta employer behind you. That's the part we do: we confirm your eligibility in writing, connect you with an employer who supports provincial nominations, and prepare the nomination and permanent-residence applications.

What changed this summer

Alberta is making room.

Three developments this summer, taken from the province's own published figures.

+200

August 10, 2026

More nominations for Alberta

Ottawa added 200 nominations to Alberta's 2026 allocation, bringing it to 6,603. The Alberta Opportunity Stream now holds 3,562 of those spaces.

5,221

As of September 23, 2026

Nominations are moving

Alberta had issued 5,221 of its 6,603 nominations for 2026, with 1,382 spaces left. The Opportunity Stream ran the largest rounds of the summer — 720, 833 and 743 invitations in June, July and August.

Rural Renewal round tripled

The Rural Renewal Stream's August round invited three times as many candidates as its July round. Rural communities are one of the province's named priorities for 2026.

The two streams

Built for people already in Alberta.

Both are Alberta's own selection systems, and neither uses your Express Entry score. Both need a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer — which is where we come in.

Alberta Opportunity Stream

For people already living and working full-time in Alberta.

  • A valid work permit when you apply and when Alberta assesses your application — maintained status and restoration don't count. Eligible types include LMIA-based permits; some LMIA-exempt permits (trade agreements, intra-company transfers, International Experience Canada, Mobilité francophone); a PGWP from an eligible Alberta public post-secondary credential; and some open permits, such as those for vulnerable workers
  • 12 months of full-time work (30+ hours a week) in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months, or 24 months in Canada or abroad within the last 30 months. PGWP holders with an eligible Alberta public credential need 6 months in Alberta, in an occupation related to their studies
  • English or French at CLB 4 in every skill for TEER 4–5 occupations, CLB 5 for TEER 0–3 (CLB 7 for nurse aides), from one test taken within the last two years
  • High-school education or higher; foreign credentials need an educational credential assessment
  • A full-time job offer (30+ hours a week, at least 12 months) from an eligible Alberta employer in your current occupation, at or above the required wage — not part-time, casual, seasonal, self-employed, remote or through a temp agency

Some occupations aren't eligible (for example, home child care providers and home support workers), and employers must meet Alberta's own requirements. Entry is by invitation: you submit a $135 Worker Expression of Interest and Alberta invites candidates from the pool.

Rural Renewal Stream

For people willing to live and work in a designated Alberta community.

  • An Endorsement of Candidate letter from the community's economic development organization — valid for one year, and valid when you apply and when Alberta assesses your application
  • A full-time job offer from an established employer in that community, in an eligible occupation. TEER 0–3 offers are open to candidates in Alberta, elsewhere in Canada or abroad; TEER 4–5 offers only to temporary workers already living in Alberta
  • 12 months of full-time experience within the last 18 months, in Alberta, Canada or abroad, at a TEER level compatible with the job offer (the same occupation for TEER 5). PGWP holders who completed a two-year program at a school in the community are exempt
  • Language at CLB 4 (TEER 4–5) or CLB 5 (TEER 0–3); high-school education or higher, with a credential assessment for foreign education
  • If you're in Canada, a valid work permit (refugee claimants aren't eligible). Settlement funds are needed only if you live outside Canada or aren't working; the amount depends on family size and community

Eligibility summarized from alberta.ca as of October 5, 2026. The Alberta Express Entry stream — including the Dedicated Health Care, Accelerated Tech and Law Enforcement pathways — serves other profiles; ask us if that's you.

Permit expiring?

Start at least six months early.

Alberta pathway FAQs.

Your own options are confirmed in your written assessment.

Ask on WhatsApp
Do I need an Express Entry profile?

Not for the Alberta Opportunity Stream or the Rural Renewal Stream. They are Alberta's own, non-Express-Entry streams and use Alberta's own points. Only the Alberta Express Entry stream requires a federal profile, with a CRS score of at least 300.

I'm on a post-graduation work permit. Does that count?

It can. For the Opportunity Stream, a PGWP counts if your credential is an eligible one from an Alberta publicly funded institution. You then need 6 months of full-time Alberta experience (instead of 12) in an occupation related to your studies, plus a full-time job offer in that occupation.

My permit expires soon. What are my options?

Contact us at least six months before your permit expires. Your permit must still be valid when Alberta assesses your application — maintained status doesn't count — and employer support and its documents, such as an LMIA or a community endorsement, can take up to six months to put in place.

Can I apply from outside Canada?

The Rural Renewal Stream accepts candidates outside Canada who hold a community endorsement and a full-time job offer in a TEER 0–3 occupation in that community. The Opportunity Stream is only for people already living and working in Alberta on an eligible permit.

What does it cost?

Recruitment is paid by the employer, so candidates are never charged a placement fee. Immigration services are quoted in writing after the eligibility check. Government fees are separate — Alberta charges $135 to submit a Worker Expression of Interest and $1,500 if you're invited to apply.
