Candidates receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and are invited through general and category-based draws. Language, education and Canadian experience drive most of the score, and a provincial nomination adds 600 points. From November 3, 2026, work experience and job offers in high-wage occupations earn additional points too.
Agriculture and agri-food was a 2025 category and isn't on the 2026 list. Each category has its own experience requirements, and categories and cut-offs change — we check the current draws for your profile.
Express Entry · From November 3, 2026
IRCC announced on October 16, 2026 that Express Entry will award additional points for Canadian work experience and job offers in high-wage occupations.
From November 3, 2026
12 months or more of Canadian work experience in a high-wage occupation, within the last 10 years, earns 20, 40 or 70 additional points, depending on the occupation's wage level. They are added to the points you already receive for Canadian work experience.
From November 3, 2026
A qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation earns 50, 70 or 100 points, and it no longer needs a labour market impact assessment (LMIA). If you qualify for both, the higher score applies; the two are not combined.

An occupation qualifies when its median wage in Canada is at least 1.3 times the median for the whole workforce. The list covers health care, skilled trades, engineering, technology and education.
IRCC will recalculate scores in the Express Entry pool automatically; it says this may take up to two weeks, with invitation rounds paused during that time. Candidates with a job offer should update their profile before November 3. Invitations still depend on each round's requirements and cut-off score.
