A visit visa is valid for 10 years or up to the expiry of the applicant’s passport. Each visit, the visa holder may stay in Canada for up to six months after which they have to leave Canada or may apply for an extension to stay in Canada. There is no limit on number of extension of stay applications, however, the applicant need to justify their reason of extended stay in Canada. Granting a visitor visa is at the sole discretion of the consular officer who decides on the merits of the case that meet the criteria.
